Tropical Thunder still unbeaten after opening two wins
Defending champions Tropical Thunder made it two wins from two in the 2026 Barbados Beach Soccer Championship, edging Pelican Pirates 6–5 at Farnell Avenue, Bay Street, on Saturday, 24 October.
Former Barbados national captain Mario Harte had led the way in Thunder’s opening 5–2 victory over High Tide. He scored in the 15th and 24th minutes, while Akel Inniss, Khalique Bowen and Romario Savoury added a goal apiece.
The Pirates posed a different test. They scored five times against Thunder, matching the champions’ entire tally from the opening weekend. Thunder’s six goals proved just enough to secure their second victory and took their tally to 11.
The win also brought an early contrast with last year’s title decider, when Thunder beat Beach Blitzers 6–1 at Browne’s Beach. Romario Savoury scored a hat-trick in that final and was back among the goals against High Tide as Thunder began their title defence. Tropical Thunder were unbeaten throughout the tournament last year.
Elsewhere at Bay Street, Bajan Heat followed up their 6–1 opening-weekend victory over Bay Challengers with a much closer 4–3 win against Sea Breeze. Shae Darlington had scored four against the Challengers, while Sea Breeze had opened with a 5–1 win over Soca Stormers.
Two other sides hit eight goals on Saturday. Trident Tide beat Sugar Cane Rovers 8–1 for the day’s widest winning margin, while Island Invincibles defeated Bajan Spartans 8–3.
